What's Love Got To Do With It? When it comes to having a full happy life, love has a lot to do with it. And I'm not talking about that gushy heart pounding love. That is important but honestly you really can't embrace that someone special or even find that someone special until you start at the beginning. The beginning of course is yourself, trust me you can never let anyone love you until you love yourself. Sounds easy but it really isn't, not when you get down to that place of unconditional love. You know those moments, when you look in the mirror naked and see all your imperfections. It is very hard to love yourself at that moment. The thing that most of us forget is that perfection doesn't exist at all. Hell even if it did, where's the fun in that.
Do you find that it is incredibly hard to fit this simple task in your day? I know I do. And if I do find the time it is always hit or miss. Or I'm running behind and never really get to it on a regular basis.
The Daily OM is a great tool. You can sign up to receive it in email form. I've also added the link here so you can check it daily to see if it interests you. It's not as good as meditation but if you slow down long enough to really read and process the information, I find it gives me a little more focus each morning.
Passion, yea I bet your thinking sex! Well, that's a good thought or two or three. But I'm actually referring to that "thing" that motivates you to lose track of time because you are consumed with doing the "thing", the "thing" that makes you smile just thinking about decadently stealing time to do the "thing". Now granted one could still find sex as the correct answer for that criteria but we'll discuss the finer details of that passion in the BODY section.
This section probably will really piss a lot of people off. I'm not much for following traditional concepts in this area. So consider yourself warned, this is just an opinion.
That being said, I feel all bad things in history have their roots in religion and the insidious monopoly of control and power. Anytime you follow anything without question, you can be lead astray. I meet so many people base all life decisions on what others or "god" told them to do or better yet when they choose to take no action waiting on "god" and then when nothing happens, it must be "gods" will. What an excuse to not take responsibility for your life and decisions.
Letting go of things…. Letting go of mementos…. Letting go of days gone by….
Sometimes you have to let go in order to make room for the future.
People who hang on to everything they’ve ever owned drive me crazy. Or even more annoying is a person who has really nice items that they never use because they are saving them for a special occasion. Let’s get real everyday you wake up and take a breath is a pretty special day.
My family = pack-rats… “never know when you might need that”, “might not be able to buy something nice again”… if you look at the root of most of the pack-rat phrases for keeping something it usually has negative twist or has a hint of fear of the future….
How do you find solace after a hard day? What helps you stop to breath and find your own thoughts? It is so very hard sometimes to find ourselves let alone hear ourselves.
My mind seems to go 90 miles a minute and wears me out. There are so many thoughts polluting my mind that sometimes my voice is fully muffled. How can I follow my gut instinct if I can’t even hear it?
I have to find a way to stop and breath. There’s meditation, yoga and for me music. Alas, music soothes the savage beast.
